Before you start: Stremio addons are configured via a web browser. Open the addon page, configure your settings, click Install, and Stremio will open automatically to confirm. Your addons then sync to all your devices including TV, phone, and tablet.

Step 1 — Install Torrentio (The Most Important Addon)

Torrentio is the most popular Stremio addon. It scrapes torrent providers and serves streams directly in Stremio — giving you access to an enormous library of movies, TV shows, and more. Pairing it with a debrid service transforms it into a Netflix-quality experience.

Open the Torrentio configuration page

In a web browser on your computer, navigate to torrentio.strem.fun. This is the official Torrentio configuration page.

Configure the settings

Providers: Leave at default (all enabled)
Sorting: Leave at default (by quality)
Exclude qualities: Check Screener and Cam to filter out low-quality video. Also check 4K if your internet connection is slow.
Max results per quality: 10
Video size limit: Leave empty (or set 2GB for movies, 800MB for TV if bandwidth-limited)

Add your debrid provider (optional but recommended)

Under Debrid provider, select your service (Real-Debrid, AllDebrid, TorBox, etc.). Then click the "here" link next to the API Key field and follow the steps to get your key. Paste it in the API Key field.

Even the cheapest debrid subscription (around $3/month) unlocks 4K streaming at full speed with no buffering. It's the single biggest upgrade you can make to your Stremio setup.

Optional: Debrid display settings

Check "Don't show download to debrid links" and "Don't show debrid catalog" to keep the interface clean and focused on streams only.

Click Install

Scroll down and click the Install button. Stremio will open and ask you to confirm the addon installation. Click Install again in Stremio to finish.

Step 2 — Choose a Debrid Service

A debrid service acts as a high-speed proxy between torrent trackers and you. Instead of downloading via BitTorrent, you stream from the debrid provider's fast servers. Most content is already cached, so playback is instant — even 4K. Prices start at ~$3 USD/month.

Important: Most debrid services only allow one public IP address at a time. Do not use the same account from multiple locations simultaneously — this can get your account banned. TorBox, Premiumize, and EasyDebrid are exceptions that allow multiple IPs.

Step 3 — Add Streaming Catalogs

Beyond Torrentio, you can add curated catalogs to your Stremio home screen. The Streaming Catalogs addon adds browseable lists from popular streaming services — sorted by platform — directly to your home screen.

Install Streaming Catalogs

In Stremio, go to Addons → Community Addons and search for "Streaming Catalogs". Or find it in the community addon list online. Configure which streaming platforms you want to see (Netflix, Disney+, HBO, Prime, etc.) and install.

Browse your new home screen catalogs

After installation, your Stremio home screen will have new rows showing popular titles from each platform you selected. Click any title to search for streams via Torrentio.

Step 4 — Personalize with Trakt Lists

Trakt is a media tracking service that lets you create personalized watchlists and recommendations. The Trakt addon brings these lists into Stremio as dynamic home screen catalogs, so your homepage always shows content you actually want to watch.

Install the Trakt addon

In Stremio's Addons section, search for "Trakt" and install the Trakt.tv addon. A Trakt account is only required if you want to use your own private lists — public lists work without an account.

Add public curated lists

Community members like garycrawfordgc and Riz maintain excellent public Trakt lists on MDBList. Use the Trakt addon's search to find them — for example, search "garycrawfordgc horror" to add a curated horror list to your home screen.

No Trakt account is needed to add and use public lists. You only need one if you want to track what you've watched or access your private watchlist.

Use MDBList for dynamic auto-updating lists

Unlike static lists, MDBList lets you create filter-based lists that update automatically — for example: "action movies from 2015 to present, Rotten Tomatoes score above 70%, sorted by release date." You can create up to 4 free lists and connect them to the Trakt addon.
