Install Stremio on Your TV

Step-by-step instructions for Android TV, Amazon Fire TV, Samsung Smart TV, and LG Smart TV. Pick your device below to get started.

Devices covered: Nvidia Shield, Xiaomi Mi Box, Android TV boxes, Google TV (Chromecast with Google TV), and any Android TV device running Android 5.0+.

Install the Downloader app

On your Android TV, go to the App Store or Google Play and search for "Downloader by AFTVnews". Install it. This app lets you sideload APK files directly onto your TV.

If your TV doesn't have Google Play, you can also search for "Downloader" in the Amazon Appstore or any alternative app store on your device.

Allow installs from unknown sources

Go to Settings → Device Preferences (or Security & Restrictions) → Unknown Sources and enable it for the Downloader app. This allows you to install apps outside of the official store.

Open Downloader and enter the download URL

Open the Downloader app. In the URL field, type the following address and press Go:

stremio-app.com/download.html

You can also go directly to stremio-app.com and navigate to the download page from there.

Download the Android TV APK

On the Stremio download page, select the Android TV APK option. The file will download automatically to your device.

Install the APK

When the download completes, Downloader will prompt you to install the APK. Tap Install and wait for it to finish. Once installed, open Stremio and log in with your account.

Already set up addons on another device? Just log in — your entire Stremio configuration syncs automatically via the cloud.

Devices covered: Amazon Fire TV Stick (all generations), Fire TV Cube, Fire TV Edition televisions.

Enable apps from unknown sources

On your Fire TV, go to Settings → My Fire TV → Developer Options → Apps from Unknown Sources and turn it On.

This setting is only used to sideload Stremio. You can turn it off again after installation if you prefer.

Install the Downloader app

Search for "Downloader" in the Fire TV app store and install it. It's free and published by AFTVnews.

Open Downloader and enter the URL or code

Open Downloader and enter the Stremio download page URL, or use this quick-access code:

stremio-app.com/download.html

The Downloader app lets you type in a URL directly using the on-screen keyboard or a connected keyboard.

Download & install the APK

Select the Android TV APK on the Stremio download page. Once downloaded, tap Install when prompted. Stremio will appear in your app list.

Launch Stremio and log in

Open Stremio from your Fire TV home or app drawer. Sign in with your account. All your addons and library will appear automatically.

Use the Stremur app on your phone as a remote control for an easier typing experience on your TV.

Good news: Samsung TVs from 2019 onwards have a native Stremio app in the Samsung App Store. No sideloading needed.

Open the Samsung App Store (Smart Hub)

Press the Home button on your Samsung remote and navigate to the Apps section or Smart Hub.

Search for Stremio

Use the search icon in the App Store and type "Stremio". The official app should appear in the results.

Install and open Stremio

Select the Stremio app and press Install. Once installed, open it and log in with your Stremio account. Your library and addons will sync automatically.

If Stremio does not appear in the Samsung App Store, your TV model may be from before 2019 and may not be officially supported. Consider an Android TV box as an alternative.

Good news: LG Smart TVs from 2020 onwards (webOS 5.0+) have a native Stremio app available in the LG Content Store.

Open the LG Content Store

Press the Home button on your LG Magic Remote and navigate to the LG Content Store from the launcher bar at the bottom.

Search for Stremio

Click the search icon in the top-right corner and type "Stremio". Select the official Stremio app from the results.

Install and sign in

Press Install, then open the app and log in with your account. Everything — addons, watch history, library — will appear immediately thanks to cloud sync.

LG TVs from 2019 or older running webOS 4.x are not officially supported. Pairing an Android TV box with your LG TV is the recommended solution in that case.

Stremio without addons is like a player with no content. Set up Torrentio and a debrid service to unlock everything.
